I have inherited from my Mom the coloring bug...I love coloring Easter Eggs! My kids are older but it does not matter - nothing gets you in the spirit of the holiday faster than coloring eggs. I even made John participate :). I did not have all the supplies that I needed to color them because it was kind of a last minute thing. But I had vinegar, food coloring and these cool coloring pens that you can use for decortating cookies and cakes and things like that. There is kind of a funny story that went along with those pens - this may have been one of those "had to be there" moments but I will try to relay how totally funny it was. So John thinks Easter Bunny and coloring eggs are for little kids and says he will participate when Raeli is ready to participate. Well I pressured him into doing ONE egg...when I say pressured - I mean the only reason he finally gave in was to probably shut me up :). Anyway...after he dipped the egg he thought he was done but I told him he had to put more effort into it...so he grabbed the pens and started to color a bunny...but these pens had a trick and I had not told anyone yet that they worked more like a brush than a pen. Needless to say, he had already made a mess with the coloring before I could clue him in.... He was a little disappointed and I could not help but make fun of his creation. I don't think I will have much pull next year in persuading him to do it again. Karma hit me back (with Kelsie's help). I made this cute egg with zigzags but I felt it needed something more. So Kelsie suggested that I add eyes so it looks like a chicky peaking out. When I was done it was a terrifying looking egg not sweet and cute - thanks Kelsie.
This story is that it probably is not that funny but I die laughing every time I think or talk about it. In fact it took me three tries and a very long time to write because I was crying-laughing and could not finish it.

I think your chicky egg is funny. It does look kind of creepy - like you're putting the Halloween back into Easter. Ha! Cute eggs though.
