Near break in

Warning second-hand story...

So the kids and I leave the house around 6:30 every morning in order to get them to seminary on time (it is more like 6:40 - but whatever). So shortly after we left Tuesday morning (John says it was like 3 minutes) John heard someone trying to get into our house. Lita our dog was barking like crazy and John thought it might be one of Jed's friends (getting something Jed forgot or coming in to meet Jed before going off to school). So John opens the door and there stood the lady who was trying to break in to our house. She says she needs to come into our house because her ex-husband is after her. John tells her nicely he can't let her in but he will call the police for her. She says she already tried and they won't come to help her. Then before John can shut the door to retrieve the phone she asks him "well can I borrow your car?". ...let me think...um No!! John's nice reponse was more like"No, I have to use it to go to work" Then she says well I am parked behind you. (Not sure why she needed his car - come to find out she had stole the truck she parked behind his car). He shut the door and called 911. Meanwhile she decides she needs more attention so that she gets what she wants and so she goes to the neighbors house climbs his block wall and screams until the police and fireman show up.

As funny as it sounds and scary as it was - it is also very sad. The guy she stole the truck from knew a little about her and said that she has recently gone through a divorce and was completely "normal" prior to that but has really been taken for a ride since the divorce.

Here are some pictures John took of our usually very quite neighborhood.

Behind the officer in this picture is the stolen truck and the owner of that truck.

WHAT!!!! holy cow...that is crazy! I guess we all need those stories every now and again to put things in perspective huh. They help remind us that we really are very blessed even when things seem difficult. Thanks. :)
