Creation

"The prophet said to plant a garden so that's just what we'll do.
For God has given rich brown soil, the rain and sunshine too.
And if we plant the seeds just right and tend them carefully, before we know it good things will grow to feed our family."

This is not my garden but maybe mine will look almost as pretty?...right now for me its all about the produce and the design will come when I have more time and money and space :)

I wish I could say I was trying to be obedient to the prophets words and that is why we planted a garden. I simply love creating and a garden is such an easy way to create somethign and feel completely wonderful and accomplished. On top of that the "fruits of my labor" taste so much better than store bought. We planted (me with little miss in tow helping as much as an 18month old can help). Our garden has corn (first time I have ever grown these), artichoke, eggplant (also a first), zucchini (again a first), heirloom tomatoes (first time from seed), regular tomato plant, cilantro, mint, red bell pepper(first time and it is from seed I dried from a pepper I used in a meal), chives, two different kinds of lettuce (first time). We also have sunflowers and marigolds - these are the two easiest kinds of flowers to grow. Both seem hardy and they both grow fast. I am already seeing results but the real test is to see what will actually produce the "fruit". I may add jalepenos and carrots, maybe even peas to the garden...we shall see. I will post pictures as soon as they look like something. (By the way I was worried about the corn because it had been over two weeks and I only saw 2 shoots...then yesterday I went out to water and counted 15 shoots - so excited!!)

I need to have a week by week update of your garden on your blog to watch the growth. I didn't know that you can grow a garden outside in AZ. Nice Job!
