Addiction

From the beginning Raeli loved it when we sang. She really did not care if we sang well or not or what song we sang. Then one day Kameron showed her itsy bitsy spider on Youtube. And from there her addiction was born. It was just excitement when Kameron would come home and she would pat the chair where she wanted Kameron to sit and show her movies (Nursery rhymes on youtube) Then I would show her movies on my phone when we were driving to prevent the fussiness. She then would ask anyone who sat at a computer to watch movies. She became pickier and would request certain songs and cry if we misunderstood and would cry when her 10-12 songs were done. If you told her not now or all done she would throw a full on fit including the arched back and maybe even hitting. (Oh ya she does that I know she is a super sweet little lady but even my angel has a devil in her when she does not get her way). I imposed a restriction on watching movies to just after her dinner (only once a day). It was rough at first but then seemed to wane in intensity. But then all of the sudden she was back on her kick of gotta have it. (I think we all just give her what she wants and so the thought of her NOT getting was a little foreign to her). I have now banned it altogether except on long car rides (honestly I give it to her when I cant easily get her in her car seat too - shhhh...)Anyway tonight I was hungry and she was not so I let her watch movies while I ate - BIG mistake...she was tired and could not communicate which song she wanted so needless to say it was a rough evening. She does not watch TV so really is watching nursery rhymes really that bad she only does it in 20 minute stints and at most 3 times a day. I go back and forth on it and if she didn't have such a negative reaction to her movie time being over I probably would not care...

definition of addiction - the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

Here are a couple of videos when she had not yet developed her addiction - it was still cute ;)
